TRAILS is a unique primary prevention curriculum for
children in kindergarten through third grade. Focusing on a strength-based
concept, TRAILS helps children develop resiliency traits that build a strong
foundation for healthy habits and the positive decision-making skills needed
when confronted with alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use.
The integration of resiliency traits distinguishes
TRAILS from other prevention programs. The TRAILS program includes a series of
interactive stories that allow children to learn through participation, by
making choices and observing consequences. The curriculum includes
corresponding coloring books for children to take home to share with their
families. A teacher's manual offering multiple instructional strategies is
provided, along with several developmentally-appropriate activities for each
unit, where teachers can choose from a selection of reading, writing,
kinesthetic, intra/interpersonal, and artistic activities that best suit the
needs of the class.
This comprehensive, cutting-edge program has been carefully designed to help
children enjoy personal safety, health and wellness, as well as develop
essential life skills and a strong sense of self-awareness. |
