New Millennium. New Challenges. At the beginning of the new millennium, people in our community were beginning to feel the effects of a volatile economy. They needed help maintaining stability. At the same time, many of the nonprofit organizations and programs that had the experience and resources to provide assistance were virtually unknown. They needed help connecting to people in need.

Community Came Together. A public-private coalition of stakeholders – including the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Helen Bader Foundation, Northwestern Mutual Foundation, United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Milwaukee County government – recognized these mutual concerns needed to be addressed for the good of the community-at-large. They called on IMPACT’s expertise in providing telephonic assistance and connecting people to resources and, in 2002, lent support for the establishment of IMPACT 2-1-1.  Approximately 56,000 people called for help in that first year; and in each of the following years, the volume of people contacting IMPACT 2-1-1 has grown.  In fact, from 2002 through 2012, IMPACT 2-1-1 handled over 1 million requests for information and assistance.

More than Celebrating an Anniversary. While TRIPLE PLAY DAY with IMPACT 2-1-1 will celebrate of decade of service, we’ll also share what we’ve learned about basic needs challenges; as well as suggest ways that nonprofits, corporations, philanthropists, policy-makers and anyone with a stake in the community can do to help the greater Milwaukee area thrive. We’ll acknowledge the people and organizations that have helped IMPACT 2-1-1 evolve from a basic hotline into a state-of-the-art telephonic and online resource that not only supports families in crises, but also aids coordinated response to a community emergency.

Most of all, TRIPLE PLAY DAY with IMPACT is our chance to hear your stories and build new relationships.

We hope to see you there!
