Intake Specialist

IMPACT is looking for an experienced AODA counselor to do clinical interviewing and assessing of homeless individuals at designated locations throughout the Milwaukee community for mental health and substance abuse. This is a full-time, 37.5 hour per week position working Monday through Friday. Vehicle, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance are required.
Education/Experience Required
1. Bachelors degree in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing or related field or a Substance Abuse Counselor with at least two years experience.
2. Experience in clinical interviewing and assessment.
3. Knowledge of Milwaukee community resources.
Customer Service Specialist

IMPACT is looking for Customer Service Specialists to provide quality customer service to our clients. Dependent on project and funding approval, hiring decisions will be made in November with an anticipated start date of December 8, 2008.
A Customer Service Specialist –
• Successfully completes a comprehensive initial training program.
• Uses the State of Wisconsin CARES web-based system to query screens for status of a case to determine action to be taken.
• Updates data in CARES and alerts the appropriate staff when recipient’s information need confirmation or verification.
• Uses questioning and listening skills to identify caller’s needs, problem solve, and applies crisis intervention skills when needed.
• Accurately documents customer contacts in a computerized database and other means.
• Keeps informed of and demonstrates knowledge of relevant Income Maintenance programs, policies, and procedures.
• Maintains call quality and quantity standards, i.e., follows call map for call handling, length of calls, call per hour, and other set standards.
• Instructs callers and assists callers in developing an action plan.
Requirements/Skills
• Experience working with the CARES computer system a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Bilingual (Spanish or Hmong) a plus.
• Typing skills and computer proficiency.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn eligibility rules and policies of all Income Maintenance programs.
• Excellent customer service skills, previous customer service experience preferred.
• Cultural competency skills necessary to work effectively with diverse customers.
• Accuracy and detail oriented.
• Able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
