2-1-1 @ IMPACT Women & Families
in Crisis (released
Fall 2006)
2-1-1 @ IMPACT has been very successful in connecting people
with the assistance they need, and the call center’s
detailed tracking system provides essential information regarding
the overall needs of special populations which can be used
to help steer future programming and community outreach.
With over one quarter of Milwaukee residents living in poverty,
and families headed by single women among the hardest hit,
2-1-1 @ IMPACT caller data reflects the struggle that many
face to meet even the most basic needs, such as housing and
food. This report detailing 2005 caller data provides
an overview of the needs and challenges facing Milwaukee
women and families.

2-1-1 @ IMPACT Report Card
to the Community (released Fall 2005)
In Milwaukee County, calls to 2-1-1 @ IMPACT are meticulously
documented. The data from nearly 170,000 calls taken from
January 2003 through December 2004 are reviewed in the report.
Funded by the Faye McBeath Foundation, the Greater Milwaukee
Foundation, the Northwestern Mutual Foundation and the United
Way of Greater Milwaukee, this analysis identifies predominant
caller issues, indicates shifting trends, and targets unmet
needs and gaps in services. The report also features a comprehensive
category grouping of caller needs, category profiles and zip
code profiles. Specifically, the data reveals:
- Nearly 80 percent of our callers are women, many whom
are single and supporting children.
- Poverty is no longer isolated in Milwaukee’s central
city, but spreading to the north and northwest areas of
the county.
- Food and other basic needs continue to be the issues
with which families need assistance.
- Resources that provide temporary financial assistance
and emergency shelter are not enough to meet the existing
demand.
