Drug-Free Communities Support Program
IMPACT offers assistance to organizations to help them develop
prevention programs and other initiatives for youth through
the Milwaukee Drug-Free Communities Support Program. IMPACT
coordinates this program on behalf of the Milwaukee Youth
and Family Development Alliance (MYFDA). A significant partner
included in this effort is Fighting Back, Inc. The Milwaukee
Drug-Free Communities Support Program enables coalitions to
strengthen their coordination and prevention efforts, encourage
citizen participation in substance abuse reduction efforts,
and disseminate information about effective programs.
Community coalitions are comprised of:
- Youth
- Parents
- Government Officials
- Business representatives
- Media representatives
- Youth-serving agencies
- School officials
- Law enforcement
- Civic, volunteer, and fraternal groups
- Healthcare professionals, and
- Religious organizations
- Substance abuse prevention organizations
Nationally, the Drug-Free Communities Support Program
is designed to aid community coalitions across the country
in their efforts to limit alcohol, tobacco and other drug
use and promote drug-free communities. It is administered
by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s
Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) and overseen
by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy
(ONDCP).
